Dear Ian,
I am in the process of setting up a website to showcase my own work, and found you through Clicpics. Just wanted to say how very impressed I am with your execution - the tightness of composition, the way you simplify the subject and remove extraneous distractions, and the eye you have - superb! Do you do any post - production enhancement or do you manage to achieve such a colour saturation simply with polariser and netutral grads? The colour range is superb, you are to be congratulated. What lens choice do you prefer for the wide shots, they look wider than the 17-55 2.8 I default to for Yorkshire landscapes. Incredible depth of field as well, I found your work to be really inspiring. Keep it up!
Kind Regards,

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the kind comments. To hopefully answer your questions, I shoot in RAW format, so every image needs to be processed after shooting, but just enough without overdoing it to bring out the image as I saw it. Generally, after levels and contrast little if any saturation occurs. Indeed, I have just returned from Tuscany shooting poppies and I’ve had to de-saturate in some cases as they were too red! Nearly every landscape shot has a ND grad usually a 2 or 3 stop to hold back the sky. Currently I use the Nikon 12-24 lens for my wide angle but some time ago did try the Sigma 10-20 which was pretty good for the money. Depth of Field needs practice, and I still bracket apertures sometimes if I’m not 100%. I hope this helps.
Again, many thanks for your interest.

Hello
Hello Ian, I came across your website whilst prusing Clikpic, and im glad i did. It is very impressive indeed. How much work did clikpic do in making your site what it is.
Love the images as they are local to me. Im based on the East Cliffs of Bournemouth a 5 minute stroll from the sea.
Hope to come across you one day out and about. I love the early morning light too, but apart from the occasional hardy soul, i normally as you would know, have the world to myself.
Again loving your work

Prints
Not only is the web site excellent but so are the prints we ordered. Thank you for getting them to us swiftly, they proved to be a great success with the recipients for whom they were "special birthday" presents. I am now considering having some in my office.

Landscape
Hi Ian, saw your site advertised via a search engine, great photo's. Really enjoyed looking at them all, especially the landscapes. Regards, Vee
Thank you Vee. Keep looking as I update the site pretty regularly, although at the moment, I am dealing with our stand at the New Forest Show. If you are coming to the show, pop in and see us, we're at the Winchester Village near the main entrance.
