Just popped in to have a look on the off chance to see what other people have done with their "clikpic" sites. Your photography is stunning, I especially love your mono work. I hope one day to strive to your standard

I felt compelled to acknowledgement the enormous talent, taste, and quality in your photos on your website.
I have dabbled for some 45 years, and your photos are the closest in content to my own, but of a superior quality!
I hope you accept the compliment as genuinely given.

Hi Ian and Julia

I hope you had a pleasant journey home

Thank you both for a fantastic weekend of photography even after the judging on Monday night I got my pics for my panel out to look at to see if I could see things within that you picked up on that night

You did a fantastic job and would very much like to attend one of your workshops next year and would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone (already have)

Look forward to seeing you again soon

Kind regards

Hi Ian

Hope it was not too rough a trip for you back home. Fantastic weather here today, sea as calm as a millpond and sunshine virtually all day. Here is my email address is you have anything that will be of interest. I absolutely loved the course. You were so enthusiastic and helpful - I am sure I must have tried your patience with my tripod. I am determined to buy a decent one and have been looking on the internet today for a Manfrotto. Afraid my camera is still playing up a little but I am forever the optimist and am sure the camera will be OK in the end. Thanks for lending me yours. Julie was extremely helpful looking after our gear so please thank her for me. I liked everything about the course and am really looking forward to the next one which you will take that is if you will have me!

Thanks once again, I learnt so much and can't wait to try the slow shutter speeds down our local outdoor pool.

Best wishes

hi Ian, my name is Alex and I am an artist. I have recently become evry interested in photography as a means of expressing myself and my views of the world and have been reccomended to clikpic by a friend of mine.
Your site is the first one that I have been complaring, as a decision maker really, but I just have to say WOW!
Your eye for composition is spot on and I know all too well just how few photographers seem to have that, given that they seem all too keen on allowing photoshop to correct their shortcomings as an artist, (Just my opinion of course though, lol)
I am so impressed with your work and would greatly appreciate for you (if you had the chance to of course), to give me your opinion on my work. A few of my recent images are on my facebook page and I have also created a group on there too.
I look forward to hearing back and again, very impressed to say the least.
Great to have something to aim towards!
All the best and keep smiling!

Hi Ian..
I stumbled across your site by sheer chance from a google search...I was looking for a new lense for my camera! I live in Dorset, and your photography is absolutely fantastic in every aspect, the composition colours and clarity are all superb, and every show really inspired me. You are a natural talent with amazing photographic skills.

I just wanted to let you know how truly beautiful your photo's are. I'm just in awe at how you have captured not only your subject but mood and beyond. I'm truly lost for words (if you knew me you would be impressed!)

Your poppy photo's are inspiring an embroidery i've had in the back of my mind to do for a while.

Hi Ian- I just wanted to say how impressed I am with your work. I am a beginner, though an artist of other mediums for years. I'm in the process of purchasing a new camera and can't decide between Nikon or Canon. I have a Canon G9 now that shoots really nicely. I'm in the US- otherwise, I'd beg a few lessons!

Thanks for inspiring me so!

Dear Ian,

I am in the process of setting up a website to showcase my own work, and found you through Clicpics. Just wanted to say how very impressed I am with your execution - the tightness of composition, the way you simplify the subject and remove extraneous distractions, and the eye you have - superb! Do you do any post - production enhancement or do you manage to achieve such a colour saturation simply with polariser and netutral grads? The colour range is superb, you are to be congratulated. What lens choice do you prefer for the wide shots, they look wider than the 17-55 2.8 I default to for Yorkshire landscapes. Incredible depth of field as well, I found your work to be really inspiring. Keep it up!

Kind Regards,

Andy Dobbs

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the kind comments. To hopefully answer your questions, I shoot in RAW format, so every image needs to be processed after shooting, but just enough without overdoing it to bring out the image as I saw it. Generally, after levels and contrast little if any saturation occurs. Indeed, I have just returned from Tuscany shooting poppies and I’ve had to de-saturate in some cases as they were too red! Nearly every landscape shot has a ND grad usually a 2 or 3 stop to hold back the sky. Currently I use the Nikon 12-24 lens for my wide angle but some time ago did try the Sigma 10-20 which was pretty good for the money. Depth of Field needs practice, and I still bracket apertures sometimes if I’m not 100%. I hope this helps.

Again, many thanks for your interest.

Ian

Hello Ian, I came across your website whilst prusing Clikpic, and im glad i did. It is very impressive indeed. How much work did clikpic do in making your site what it is.

Love the images as they are local to me. Im based on the East Cliffs of Bournemouth a 5 minute stroll from the sea.

Hope to come across you one day out and about. I love the early morning light too, but apart from the occasional hardy soul, i normally as you would know, have the world to myself.

Again loving your work

Not only is the web site excellent but so are the prints we ordered. Thank you for getting them to us swiftly, they proved to be a great success with the recipients for whom they were "special birthday" presents. I am now considering having some in my office.
